That the 2009 Windy City Story Slam Semi-Finals are tomorrow night!
Started by Columbia College graduate [student] and local author Bill Hillman (sic), the former boxer got the idea after attending a poetry slam at Uptown’s Green Mill in 2007. Since then, the Windy City Story Slam has grown considerably, from humble beginnings at Humboldt Park’s Quennect Four Gallery to packed houses at Metro and an international presence; from open mic newbies and aspiring authors to literary gold like homegrown scribe John McNally and Trainspotting creator Irvine Welsh who have made guest appearances at past events.
Windy City Story Slam indeed proves that everyone has a story, as raw and uncensored as they sometimes might be. Don’t miss the best of this year at the 2009 Semi-Finals beginning at 9 p.m. on December 5.
See you tomorrow night, y’all!
